Beginning with this Spring term we are starting with Art Portfolio. In this module, I will be developing my skills in terms of my future degree course which is footwear designing. In this term, I will be developing my idea with a better alternative of Nike HyperAdapt 1.0 technology and Slippers (Slides) which has inspired me a lot during my my winter break. Furthermore, I will be using looking forward to use No tie laces, Carbon Fiber for my design and Tyre as a sustainable material to design my sole.
What did you do during the winter break?
As a brutal truth I spend most of my time sleeping or visualizing designs by being updated with the latest footwear fashion trend and new releases footwear broadcasted on GQ Magazines,VOGUE & Glamour UK. As an overview, I got to know various footwear designers, new sustainable material which I can use over my initial ideas and also got to know about the new release footwear by Nike using their HyperAdapt 1.0 technology of self lacing which I had earlier mentions in one of my past blog because I am undertaking Footwear Designs B.A (HONS) as my future degree course. After knowing about the new release edition of the shoes with HyperAdapt 1.0 technology, Adapt BB 2.0, I started planning searching out for an eco friendly and more sustainable alternative for which I came up with various types of no tie laces.

As the figure above, it is one of the “No tie lace” we can see these days which are durable, elastic and efficient. The motive of having a concept of using No Tie Lace than traditional shoe lace is because like me there are many people who face difficulties fixing their shoelace. Moreover, sports people or normal person who are having miles walking at a frequent daily basis their shoelace keep getting lose and often gets opened up for which the have to stop and fix their shoe lace for which using No tie lace are the best. These elastic shoe laces are strong and flexible which adjust and fits with support with your feet. "Elastic laces are made from rubber, which is a very elastic material. When you pull the laces tight, the material stretches so much that it becomes very hard to draw them back up again. This keeps your shoes securely fastened to your feet and allows you to walk without worrying about being pulled off balance".(Anon, 2022)
In this term I will try to improve myself in terms of to achieve better grade and expand my knowledge I will be researching more on sustainable material which I had found during my break which is tyre.

Every year there an huge burning of old used tyre which pollute the environment. The idea of crushing the used tyre and molding it into different design would be efficient and ecofriendly as every year huge automobile industries throw the used tyre or sell them in cheap price to the locals to reuse them. This can benefit me into my future idea as tyre are most durable and sustainable material which provides an better grip as well. Thinking about environment and this idea I did my research in which i got to know about success practice of making outsole by used or recycled tyre. "The tires the brand uses usually weigh about 9.93 kg, and when incinerated, it emits 26.8125 kg of carbon dioxide, which is about three times the weight of the tire itself. ‘thinking about what we can do about waste tires, which is a problem in the world, led to the launch of this brand. by using scrap tires for the outsole of sneakers, carbon dioxide emissions per pair can be reduced by 8.9375kg,’ the brand shares". (Burgos, 2022)
Lastly, during this term I would try to make use of carbon fiber as I am an car enthusiast I researched on footwear having carbon fiber. The use of Carbon Fiber in shoes has immense advantage as it provide stiffness and improves the walk with energy.
"Carbon fibre is five times stronger than steel and lighter than aluminium, so it’s an ideal material to strengthen without weighing down. But it’s not just about the plate; the lightweight, springy foam and geometry of the shoe are equally important. The three elements work together to improve running efficiency".(Balance, n.d.)
