In this post I will being with talking about the the famous industrial artist Charles Demuth who has inspired me for the project that I will be making with monochrome palette. Although as an artist Charles Demuth has inspired me not only by his colour palette but also the technique which he has showed in his work Incense of a New Church, 1921.
“Jim, in selecting Charles Demuth’s Incense for a Modern Church (1921, oil on canvas, 26” by 20”), lauds the Columbus Museum of Art for leading the world in its collection of American Modernist artists, who were active from 1900 to the 1940s. This painting is one of the most significant works for Demuth (1883-1935)” (McEwan, 2016). The Incense of a New Church by Charles Demuth is an Precisianism style of art made on the canvas using oil painting. The thing primary things which inspires me the most in this painting is the monochromatic colour theory with some accent of blue for which even I am more likely to use for my major project plan. As there was no much information about this art piece I am reflecting towards the painting. Currently this painting is in Columbus Museum of Art, Columbus, Ohio. The secondary thing which inspires me the most is the strokes which Demuth has used in his work to showcase the curve’s overlapping to each other from which After glancing towards the painting I am planing to use some thing round more like an snake skin texture or rope of my initial design. Moreover, as I was researching over this in the beginning this painting was really eye catching and after knowing about the artist I got to know he is an Industrial artist for which I aim to get inspired from the research I did about this artwork and incorporate in my initial design for the major project for footwear design.
